Before you ask

I've never trained. Am I going to be in over my head?

Tell us it is your first day and the academy will point you to a current beginner-friendly class. Start with the published programs or send a class request.

Do I need to get in shape before starting jiu-jitsu?

You do not need to train for training. Tell the coach you are new, move at a pace you can sustain, and build consistency over time.

How much do classes cost?

The pricing page shows the academy's current public membership options. Contact the academy if you need help choosing or have a policy question.

Is it safe? I have work on Monday.

Tapping early and respecting your partner are core training habits. Tell the academy about injuries, limitations, or safety questions before class so staff can help you choose the right session.

What's the kids martial arts program like?

Published age guidance and upcoming classes appear on the Kids & Teens page. Send a request with the participant's age and the academy will confirm the right class.

What age can my kid start? Is there a cutoff for adults?

Age guidance belongs to each current program. Check the published programs, then ask the academy if the participant is near a boundary or needs an accommodation.

Do you teach striking, or just grappling?

The programs page lists every discipline the academy currently publishes, and the live schedule shows when each class runs.

How do belt promotions work?

Rank follows sustained work and coaching judgment. Ask the academy for its current promotion policy and how progress is communicated for your program.

Do women train here?

Check the published programs and current schedule, or ask the academy to help you find the right training environment.

When are classes? How often should I come?

The schedule page shows current dated class times and recorded changes. Consistency matters more than cramming sessions into one week.

What do I wear? What do I need to do before my first class?

Wear comfortable athletic clothes without metal pieces and bring water. The academy will confirm any gi requirement, arrival time, and the current visitor-waiver instructions before you train.

Do I have to compete?

Competition is not required to learn jiu-jitsu. Tell your coach whether your goal is recreation, fitness, self-defense, or competition so training can be discussed in that context.

Where are you, exactly?

Use the confirmed academy contact page for the current address, phone, email, and directions.
